ALWAYS GO OUT TO THE FIELD. If you do not want to bring your team, you can go out a couple of hours early and check it out, BUT a final decision about playing must be made at the field by both coaches and umpires.
Rained out games are not guaranteed a rescheduling. If you do not play, you might have to reschedule the game on your own.
You can play without an umpire and by mutual agreement. You do not have to, but if you do not play, and are forced to reschedule, SFPSBL may not be able to provide an Umpire. When you report your results, always report if you had an umpire or not.
Always carry a broom (for the batters' boxes only), a can, a bucket, and a rake with you. Many times a field can be made playable by very little work. Such as brooming water out of a batter's box and/or 'canning' out the water around the pitching mound.
If you do not play, call your Coordinator and let them know. Call your Coordinator and Athletic Director if you reschedule anything.
DO NOT CALL PARK & REC about whether fields are playable. Call the SFPSBL League Office Hotline at (415) 585-7225. The Park & Rec Offices have nothing to do with our fields. If on site staff is present at any field, you must cooperate with their requirements, otherwise you are free to make your own decisions!
If a "Field Closed" sign is in place, and the field is playable, remove it, play the game and put it back exactly as you found it.
1. SFPSBL President call two Executive Board Members(Communications Director & one other) to confirm game cancellations.
2. Communications Director calls individual League Coordinators.
3. League Coordinators call Coaches for morning/afternoon cancelled games.
a. 8:00am calls for morning games (10am,11am & Noon)
b. Noon calls for afternoon games (1pm, 2pm, 3pm & 4pm)
4. Coaches call their Players.
NOTE: If no calls are initiated by the League,GAMES ARE ON and Teams must GO TO THE FIELD! Game playability will be decided on site.
